Time Flies – Learn to manage it!

“How did it get so late so soon? It’s night before it’s afternoon, December is here before it’s June, My goodness how the time has flewn! How did it get so late so soon!” -Dr. Seuss

Gone are those days of playing whole day long and being so carefree! The days when we used our hearts more than our minds. Gone are the childhood days! Years are passing by so quickly. One must therefore enjoy and utilise each and every day because every single day counts.

It seems that there is never enough time in the day. But, since we all get the same 24 hours, why is it that some people achieve so much more with their time than others? The answer lies in good time management.

Time management leads to improved efficiency and productivity. Managing time well also allows one to have space to be creative and be proactive with one’s goals.

Following are some tips to manage time wisely-

1) ORGANISATION- Staying organized can help one maintain a clear picture of what needs to completed and when.

2) PRIORITISING– Assessing what is important for you to do is a key to good time management. Prioritization is a difficult task but gets easier with practice. One can write the “to-do tasks” to make it easier to prioritize.

3) SETTING GOALS– Setting goals, short term as well as long term is an essential part of time management. Set goals that are S.M.A.R.T- Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Realistic, and Time-bound. These goals would bring a solid structure to your life.

4)BLOCK DISTRACTIONS– Emails, phone calls, and social media messages are some of the common yet biggest distractions. One must set a limited time for these “not so important things” or even try ignoring these if possible.

5) TAKE SMALL BREAKS-Smart time management isn’t always about doing something or the other. It also emphasizes on the fact that little breaks after an hour or so can take your productivity to another level. I personally as a student cannot do anything continuously for a longer period of time and thus prefer taking short breaks in between.

6) SLEEP atleast 6-8 hrs- When you get a sound sleep for six to eight hours, not only you feel fresh but it also contributes to a healthy lifestyle. On the contrary, when you don’t get enough sleep, you are also increasing risk of diseases.

Time management plays an important role in our day-to-day lives. Even educating yourself about the basic time management tips can do wonders in one’s life!

The Indian Education System needs a reform!

Ever seen a kindergarten student’s curiosity to learn and understand things? How practically they are taught things which makes it so easy and interesting for them to understand. What happens to this curiosity by the time that same child reaches grade 6? It is because of this education system that the child is forced to believe that scoring good marks are a key to success in life.

In this race of securing the highest marks, we are forgetting the real purpose of education! It basically means to lead a meaningful life and understand how to understand. The Indian Education system needs a lot of renovation. It must work on talent, creativity and innovation! It must work on helping a student build ones personality and embrace the skills. What we are taught today is to work hard and get a job! But what good is a job if we aren’t even happy with that job and doing it forcefully?

Albert Einstein once said, “Everyone is a genius. But if you judge a fish by its ability to climb a tree, it will live its whole life believing that it is stupid.” One cannot gain expertise in all fields but must find and follow their passion. If a student gets a right mentor who understands his capabilities and directs and motivates him throughout to work hard he’s no far from success!

It’s 2019, Does Gender Inequality still exist?

Living in the 21st century does anyone even realise that GENDER INEQUALITY still exists. It’s all around us and sometimes we are so used to it that we even fail to notice it’s existence. Starting from our workplace to our homes! From child marriages to sex selective abortion, these highly discriminatory practices are still taking place at an alarming rate, affecting the lives of many today! Adolescent girls also have an increased risk of gender-based violence – including sexual harassment – in times of both peace and conflict.

A child from the very beginning is brought up to believe the stereotypes created by people. Is working households women’s mere responsibility? Not at all. Every person is free to choose and do whatever they feel like.

Afterall, we only have one life, Why care about fulfilling social expectations and stereotypes! We need to change our attitudes and spread awareness for every person to do so. “To all those women who do not speak, for those who do not have a voice because they are so terrified, as they are taught to respect fear more than themselves. They’ve been taught that silence would save us, but it won’t. So raise up a voice!”

Social Media: Is it really making us social?

In a world with such an advanced technology and all the social networking sites including Instagram, Facebook, Snapchat etc, aren’t we losing on to ourselves? Have you ever noticed how much time you spend on Social Media in a day!

Infact using excess of mobile phones might  even cause many problems such as increase in stress, anxiety levels, headaches or sleep disorders. It might even lead to cancer. Scientists have researched that the nervous systems of teens are still developing and have a greater risk of developing brain cancer from cell phones than adults.

One must follow a strict schedule and must limit the usage of social media to not more than 20 minutes. There are so many productive things which can be done! One can even give time to themselves and do whatever relaxes them- paint, dance, write or maybe take a nap. In the evenings one might even go outdoors and play something or even spend some quality time with friends instead of talking to them online.

Be your own saviour in the Delhi Pollution!

New Delhi, the “capital city” of India is suffering from high levels of pollution with AQI over 1000! Emergency has been declared with all schools and colleges closed for a few days. What a pleasure to the students out there with their tests postponed. Little do they know how badly it might affect our healths in the long run. We’ve always been taught that smoking is injurious to health. Has anyone even imagined that a day like this would come where we say “Breathing in Delhi is injurious to health!” One must take their own preventive measures instead of depending on the Governments blaming each other.

Following are the steps which must be taken to minimise the amount of polluted air taken in our bodies-

1)STAY INDOORS: One must try to stay indoors as much as possible especially early in the morning and in evening.

2)STAY HYDRATED: One must drink more water than usual.

3) GO GREEN: Try to make your home a little greener by planting more trees.

4) CONSULT A DOCTOR: One must not delay in consulting a doctor in case of any respiratory problems.

5) POLLUTION MASKS: One must use masks to prevent pollution while going outdoors.
